How to download your GPAD file
  1. Go to the NHS GPAD dashboard

    Navigate to the NHS GP Appointments Data Dashboard and sign in with your NHS credentials.

  2. Select your practice or PCN

    Use the organisation filter to scope the data to your practice or PCN.

  3. Open the Download raw data tab

    In the dashboard menu, click Download raw data. Raw data is limited to the previous 4 weeks — download regularly to build up a longer history for trend analysis.

    The raw data download includes the Appt Type (local slot name) column — this enables extra mapping quality checks. The aggregated download does not include it.

  4. Download the file

    Click Export or Download. The file will be a tab-delimited .csv or .txt file in UTF-16 or UTF-8 encoding — either works fine here.

  5. Upload the file here

    Upload the file as-is — no need to open or re-save it. Excel can corrupt the encoding if you save over the original.

GPAD (General Practice Appointment Data) is a monthly NHS data extract capturing appointment booking and attendance patterns at practice level. It is used to assess access against NHS access standards for GP services.
