Population & Inequalities

Profile any GP practice or PCN's registered population by deprivation and need — Index of Multiple Deprivation, the Core20 share, general health, ethnicity and disability. Everything is population-weighted from where the practice's patients actually live (NHS patients-by-LSOA), not just where the surgery sits, and benchmarked against England (Core20PLUS5).

Planning an Integrated Neighbourhood Team? Combine PCNs and practices into a ~30,000–50,000 footprint, then size and segment the population.

The deprivation gradient
Self-reported ill-health, disability and over-65s by national IMD decile (1 = most deprived). The hallmark of health inequality: outcomes worsen step-by-step with deprivation.
Inequality gradients — access, activity & funding by deprivation
Every outcome the platform holds, averaged across practices by IMD decile (1 = most deprived) and patient-weighted. A step down (or up, for "lower is better" measures) from the affluent to the deprived end is the inequality. The last panel tests whether NHS funding actually follows need.
Most-deprived practices
Highest Core20 share in England.
Least-deprived practices
Lowest Core20 share in England.
Practices by IMD decile
How England's GP practices distribute across deprivation deciles (1 = most deprived).
England population profile
Census 2021, population-weighted across all LSOAs.
